SDG Contributions

PHINLA also contributes to the following overarching development policy objectives:

SDG 8: Decent work and economic growth

The waste management sector can create jobs and promote economic growth through recycling, waste collection and the development of recycling industries.

SDG 11: Sustainable cities and communities

Proper waste management is crucial for creating clean, safe and sustainable cities. Effective waste management reduces pollution, promotes public health and improves overall living conditions in urban areas.

SDG 13: Climate action

Landfills and the incineration of waste release greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Reducing waste through recycling and composting can help mitigate climate change by reducing emissions.

SDG 14: Life below water and SDG 15: Life on land

Proper waste management prevents pollution of the oceans and land, which can affect ecosystems, wildlife and biodiversity. Waste reduction and recycling contribute to the preservation of these environments.
